A summer rainstorm parked itself just south of Lake Austin and put on a show - rain shafts and cloud towers stacked over the hills, a little lightning for punctuation, and the whole scene laid out twice on the flat morning water. Look closely to the right of the rain and there is even a hint of rainbow in the mist.
Texas summer storms are like this: local, dramatic, and often polite enough to stay out of your way. This one never touched us. We fished the fog line in calm water while the weather ground away a few miles south, and by the time the sun broke through, the show was over and the morning had turned gold.
Storm light is some of the best light this lake ever gets - the kind of sky that makes you set the rod down for a minute and just look.
