About the Spider Web

Not a bird - just a spider's orb web catching the dew and the low light on a cool morning at a South Texas refuge. Webs like this are strung overnight between branches along the trails and are nearly invisible until the sun angles through them or the humidity beads every strand.

They are worth stopping for. Backlit and dew-covered, an orb web becomes a photograph in its own right, and slowing down to look at one is usually how you notice the other small things a refuge trail is full of - the insects, the spiders themselves, and the birds working the same edges.
