Very exciting when you notice a different hummingbird come to the feeders of this wonderful property high in the Davis Mountains. This dude was very shy so not the easiest hummingbird to get a good picture of. I totally lucked out.

About the Rivoli's Hummingbird

A large, dark hummingbird of high western mountains, the male glittering with a green gorget and violet crown that only flash in the right light - otherwise he looks nearly black. In Texas it is a sought-after visitor to feeders in the far-western ranges.
