About the Glaucous Gull

A big, pale Arctic gull that turns up on the Texas coast only in winter, and only in small numbers. It stands out in a crowded gull flock for what it lacks - no black in the wingtips at all, just clean frosty white - and finding one picked out of thousands of birds is a proper cold-weather prize.
